THREE-MEMBER LAMINATED NO.1 SOUTHERN YELLOW PINE TIMBER COLUMN
A Morton Buildings Standard
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Products Laboratory calls for a minimum retention of 0.6 pounds per cubic foot of Chromated Copper Arsenate (CCA) for structural members in contact with the ground. Morton Buildings specifies a retention of 0.8 pounds per cubic foot—33 percent greater than the USDA specification.
Federal specification calls for preservative penetration of 85% of the sapwood. Unlike 6" x 6" solid posts used by many brand “X” builders, our laminated columns boast preservative penetration of 100 percent of the sapwood—15 percent greater than the USDA specification. Further, improperly dried 6" x 6" posts and columns only have preservative penetration at the outer edges, leaving them prone to attack by insects and the elements.

Our laminated column system assures customers of structural integrity and long-lasting performance. The style and size of each laminated column is matched to the load requirements and design of your building. For structural support, each column is anchored in concrete.
