Where Creativity Meets Craftsmanship: A Hobby Building That Does It All

August 28, 2025

In 2003, on our 100th anniversary, one family trusted Morton Buildings to bring their vision to life. Now, 22 years later, their building continues to deliver—standing strong and serving as a flexible space for work, hobbies, and everyday living.

“We love it! We often joke that we wish we could pick it up and move it to our remote property in the Rockies.” – Tony S, owner.

Where Craftsmanship Meets Everyday Living

Raised on a dairy farm in Gettysburg, Pensylvania, Tony was surrounded by Morton buildings growing up. Familiarity with our style, craftsmanship, and reputation made the choice easy.

Morton provided the turn-key structure, complete with electrical, water, and septic. From there, the family took over, transforming the interior into a multi-functional space.

Some special features include:

  • Video production studio
  • Workshop
  • Garage
  • Bathroom
  • Porch
  • 800 sq.ft. loft

The loft features barnwood salvaged from a 100+ year-old barn in Colorado Springs, adding rustic charm. A custom woodworking bench, multiple phone lines, CAT5 cabling, and wireless internet were also added to make the space even more functional.

Comfort in Every Season

Thanks to our insulation and prep work, the building stays cool in summer and warm in winter. Morton Buildings has long maintained the goal of providing our customers with efficient and effective structures. Our revolutionary Energy Performer® insulation system stands out as a pioneer in energy efficiency for post-frame buildings. A Morton building with the Energy Performer system can be better insulated, resulting in elimination of drafts, energy savings, and occupant comfort.

Now, the family is planning a second Morton building—a small off-grid cabin nestled deep in the Rockies. At Morton, we’re honored to be part of their next chapter and to have earned their trust over the past two decades. When you choose to build with Morton, the experience is as solid as the building itself. Reach out to your nearest Morton Buildings office or click the "Get Started" button to complete the form.
