The Commercial Division of Morton Buildings Will Help Your Business Succeed
Whether you want to start up a new company or expand an existing one, one thing is certain—a Morton building will help your business succeed. What differentiates us from other construction companies is the quality, the craftsmanship, and the efficiency of our buildings. Plus, our warranty is the best in the business. That’s why business owners and franchisees around the country choose Morton Buildings to create inviting, cost-effective, and energy-efficient commercial spaces.
Unlike commercial steel buildings, Morton Buildings utilizes post-frame construction, a highly engineered wood-frame building system that features large, laminated columns instead of wood studs, steel framing, or concrete masonry, and that meets local, state, and national building codes. Our open floor plans allow you to utilize the space of your building in the best way for your business, while clear-span trusses allow for less construction time without sacrificing quality. And with a variety of exterior and interior options available, you can choose the style you want, inside and out. Plus, our buildings are virtually maintenance-free, which allows you to focus on growing your company, not maintaining your building.
“We decided to go with a Morton building due to their reputation for quality, pricing, construction, advice and their design team…a complete, full package from the design to us moving in.” –Brian R., Deer Creek, IL

National Capabilities with Local Expertise
Headquartered in Morton, Illinois, Morton Buildings has national capabilities with local expertise. Morton operates over 100 employee-owned construction centers that serve as logistical/local hubs for construction services and subcontract networks. Morton also operates seven manufacturing facilities where many of our building components are produced. Our vertical integration allows us to control quality, timelines, and reduce shipping costs.
From the smallest fastener to the trusses overhead, Morton leaves nothing to chance. Most commercial metal building companies use a network of various suppliers to source their materials. Do some research and you’ll find they go with cheaply made parts that cost them less. We don’t build that way. We source and manufacture our own materials. We roll form our own steel, build our own trusses, doors, and so much more. Exceptional quality is the hallmark of a Morton. We’re only as good as our materials so we take full control of the entire process.
From wineries and retail centers to dealerships and restaurants, we have the knowledge and experience to listen to your business needs and make building recommendations based on your unique situation. We work with you to get a commercial building that suits your company, your style, and your budget.
Interested in learning about commercial financing options? Morton Buildings does not offer financing or lend internally, but we do have relationships with different institutions, such as AgriFinancial, who are able to provide commercial loan services.
Although we have constructed thousands of different kinds of commercial buildings, the market segments where we have extensive experience include:
industrial office buildings
office and warehouse
veterinary and boarding facilities
wedding and event venues
storage (mini and commercial)
retail and restaurants
winery, brewery and distillery
Benefits of a Post-Frame Commercial Building
As the way we work and do business evolves, so do the buildings we work in. The standards for commercial pole buildings are changing, which is why it's important to partner with an expert like Morton Buildings to achieve higher levels of both building and occupant performance. Energy-efficient construction is a key focus area, and we take great pride in our innovations that reduce energy usage in large facilities.
Whether you want a commercial steel building that stands out or are planning for a more basic structure, Morton will work with you to deliver a custom building that meets your needs now and in the future.
We offer many features that allow you to customize your business’s building. Whether you are looking for a simple structure or something more elaborate, Morton has many choices that can help add visual interest to your commercial metal building. These are just some of the exterior and interior features you can choose from. You can also work with your Morton Buildings sales consultant to explore other options for your building.
Ceilings: The finishing touches on your building help to transform it from a structure to an office, bank or retail center. Morton can help you choose a ceiling finish that complements your business and fits your budget.
Cupolas: Positioned on your roof to add an aesthetic touch and are available in a variety of styles and sizes.
Roof Types and Styles: Designed for long-term good looks, and available in a variety of colors and roof pitches to give your building just the right touch. Many options are available such as a roof extension to create a wraparound porch, adding gable dormers for a traditional look, or a welcoming entry porch, to name just a few.
Wainscot: Adds a nice optional element to your building’s exterior—allowing different color schemes and breaking the vertical lines of the walls. Several optional wainscot materials are also available: Novabrik™, Moderra™, masonry and HardiePanel®, as well as others.
Siding: From traditional Hi-Rib™ steel siding to brick and cultured stone, you choose the look that best fits your business and your building’s surroundings.
Doors: In addition to entry-way doors, you may also choose to add larger doors to your commercial building. Overhead doors are available in a variety of sizes and styles. Your Morton Buildings sales consultant will work with local subcontractors to recommend an overhead door that best meets your needs.
Morton Steel: All steel panels are not the same—even though they may look it—and Morton’s steel is uniquely “Morton.” We roll-form our steel from .019" thick coil which is up to 25% heavier than the steel many other builders use, and Morton’s panels feature a unique Hi-Rib™ design where the major ribs are 12" on center and 1" high with a gently rounded profile. This combination results in a very strong panel and contributes to the unique good looks and long-term attractiveness of a Morton.
FLUOROFLEX 1000: Our paint system consists of a 70% polyvinylidene difluoride (PVDF) topcoat or “color coat” and polyurethane primer that utilizes either a GALVALUME® or hot-dipped galvanized metallic coating. This superior paint provides your building with multiple layers of protection.
Energy Performer® Insulation Package: Our exclusive insulation system typically exceeds state building codes for energy efficiency, plus you’ll save money on your heating and cooling costs year-round.
