Post-frame with Steel Auto Buildings for any Business

From body shops, car washes, transmission shops, dealerships, tire repair and retail, to repair centers, automotive businesses are essential in every community and the industry is expected to keep growing. Morton Buildings has the knowledge and experience to deliver a building that suits your unique business needs and will help your new venture succeed.

Our open floor plans allow you to utilize the space of your mechanic shop building in the best way for your business, while clear-span trusses provide greater overhead clearance. And with a variety of exterior and interior options available, you can choose the style you want, inside and out. Plus, our buildings are virtually maintenance-free, which allows you to focus on growing your automotive company, not maintaining your building.

The commercial division of Morton Buildings provides fully integrated design and construction of commercial buildings across the United States. We utilize a collaborative and proven four-step designBUILD project delivery system to achieve a professional, consistent, and customer-centric experience. For over a century, Morton Buildings has set the standard in the post-frame construction industry with our cutting-edge innovations, best-in-class warranty, and superior construction quality. As a single-source resource with a national footprint, Morton Buildings Commercial is trusted to manage the entire process of a construction project from concept to completion.

We developed this designBUILD process with our customer in mind, as it enables us to deliver projects that meet your scope, schedule, and budget. This alleviates stress, eliminates time loss, and ultimately reduces the overall project cost, as our design fees are nominal and included as part of the construction package.

Custom Auto Shop Building Construction

Every Morton building is completely custom and unique. From the roof to the foundation, the design and materials included for your new auto shop building is completely up to you. Our post-frame clear-span construction provides a column-free interior designed to accommodate a variety of layouts.

We use 26-gauge commercial-quality Hi-Rib™ steel on the exterior of our buildings, which delivers up to 25% more thickness and strength than other builders. In addition, our steel panel ribs are shaped like an arch, which is the strongest architectural shape for withstanding water and weight.

We have a wide variety of steel color panels available with a 35-year warranty on most colors. Not only do they provide an attractive aesthetic for your customers, but they are also virtually maintenance-free, allowing you to focus on growing your business instead of maintaining the exterior. We can also accommodate any franchise or other design requirements you may have. For the interior, you can add acoustical steel to keep sound levels to a minimum or our Energy Performer insulation package to enhance the energy-efficiency of your building.

From overhead doors to windows to lobby doors, we have a variety of attractive and long-lasting doors available as well. Our exclusive Morton Foundation System is standard with most buildings and provides a long-lasting and durable foundation.

For those wanting a larger building, Morton hybrid buildings allow for clear-span buildings up to 150’. Hybrid combines the best of both steel and wood construction to bring you a building that meets your needs now and in the future. Steel trusses allow for greater clear-span widths than wood trusses. This provides up to 33% more interior space than traditional wood-framed construction.

Our automotive design experts understand the importance of customer experience and can help transform your mechanic shop building layout from a selling environment to a customer friendly buying experience. When designing a new automotive building, some features to consider include:

  • Showroom
  • Service Garage Areas
  • Reception or Lobby Area
  • Sales Offices
  • Conference Rooms
  • Customer Lounges
  • Parts Storage Areas
  • Service and Parts Counters
  • Restrooms

Benefits of Building an Auto Shop Building with Morton

Quality is at the heart of Morton Buildings. From the smallest fastener to the trusses overhead, Morton leaves nothing to chance. Many metal auto building manufacturers use a network of various suppliers to source their materials. Do some research and you’ll find they go with cheaply made parts that cost them less. We don’t build that way. We source and manufacture our own materials. We roll form our own steel, build our own trusses, doors, and so much more. Exceptional quality is the hallmark of a Morton. We’re only as good as our materials so we take full control of the entire process.

In addition, a warranty is only as good as the company behind it. Our century-old, financially solid company will be there to honor its warranties. Snow damage, wind damage, roof leaks, preservative-treated lumber, paint fading, chipping, peeling, or signs of red rust are not a concern for owners of Morton buildings. Our 50-year snow warranty has no weight limit, where many of our competitors do. And these companies make you jump through hoops with manufacturers when you need to use it. A Morton warranty claim is handled directly in-house, and most-importantly, our warranties are non-prorated.

We work with companies and organizations in various stages of their auto shop building project—some have already had plans drawn by an outside architect, some are only in the planning phase, and some are ready for our designers/architects to draw up plans and move forward with construction. No matter what stage you are in currently, we will help guide you to the best possible outcome. We invite you to experience the award-winning Morton Buildings difference.
