“Giving Away the Farm” is Back!

July 17, 2015

Summertime is in full swing, which means Morton Buildings is bringing back its popular “Giving Away the Farm” sweepstakes for the sixth consecutive year. The winner will receive a $50,000 credit toward a Morton building, as well as a 700 S UTV and a Lazer Z X-Series Mower from Exmark, bringing the total value of the prize package to nearly $74,000.

Since the first giveaway in 2010, previous winners have constructed farm, equestrian and suburban facilities across Iowa, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Illinois and Ohio. Don Hahn, the 2013 winner, recently completed his building in Havana, Ill.

“About two years ago, I went to the Farm Progress Show in Decatur, Illinois and signed up at the Morton Buildings site, never thinking I’d win anything,” Hahn said. “Lo and behold, I got a call later on. Sure enough, it was the real thing. Everything’s completed now and it’s just been a really good experience.”

Hahn (pictured above), who upgraded his facility beyond the $50,000 credit, built a 60’W x 16'4"H x 90’L farm storage facility. It features the exclusive Morton Foundation System, a porch and cupolas.

Hahn is not the only sweepstakes winner to share an excellent experience building Morton.

“We went to the state fair – we go every year with my family and my wife actually signed us up for it,” 2011 winner Mike Hitchcock explained. “You don’t think anything of winning a building. So, all of a sudden, we get a … phone call. Then the ball got rolling and we found it was a real drawing and we actually won a Morton building.”

Hitchcock and his family constructed a 24’W x 10’H x 30’L storage building on his property in Osseo, Minn. The storage facility was fully loaded with Morton’s features, including diamond “M” sliding doors, Hi-Rib steel and a turkey tail overhang.

“Wow, what a blessing. We literally have won a barn that we get to design … it was just great.”

Individuals may register for the sweepstakes at any Morton Buildings exhibit at participating trade shows or online at mortonbuildings.com. The winner will be selected and notified by late November.

Exmark has returned as a partner of the sweepstakes for the second consecutive year. The winner will receive and a mower and a UTV in addition to the Morton building credit.

The mower, valued at $11,899, features an 801 series Kawasaki commercial-grade engine and a 60-inch UltraCut 6 series cutting deck. The exclusive Hydro-Drive system sets new standards for durability. The mower also includes an exclusive iso-mount seat isolation system.

The UTV has a 965cc engine with single overhead cam (SOHC) and liquid-cooled single-cylinder with EFI. It also includes a three-passenger seat, independent front and rear suspension, front and rear 2-inch receivers for attachments at either end. The 2-in-1 cargo box converts to a flatbed. It is valued at $11,999.

A handful of stipulations apply for the potential winner. The recipient must be 21 years of age or older and own land within the Morton Buildings service area. The contest ends on Thursday, Oct. 22. Additional information, rules and restrictions for the sweepstakes can be found at mortonbuildings.com.
