Did you know?  From repairs to replacements, Morton Buildings can help your building look new again.  We work on all brands of buildings to repair any damage that may have occurred during the life of your building, or renovate to restore its original beauty, durability, and efficiency.

We’re proud to share one such renovation success story below that details Karin Smith’s experience.  This project also won third place in the National Frame Building Association’s 2017 Building of the Year Award!

“About a year ago we bought a charming 5-acre horse property with both a 6-stall horse barn and smaller 2-stall barn. Both were in dire need of a face-lift.  When I looked into painting the barns I discovered that they had not been painted in 27 years. This posed a huge issue for us because now there was concern the paint would no longer adhere because so much of the wood had weathered.  I was at a loss as to what to do.

The summer was unusually rainy and the barns were looking worse for all the water.  I began to get quotes to have steel put on both barns, but I was concerned at the number of contractors who wanted the work, but who had very little experience putting steel on old barns. I was referred to Morton Barns and from the moment I met with their rep, Dan Hill, I knew I had found my solution.

It took me a long time to research Morton. Their prices were a bit higher, and I was curious as to the reason.  Turns out they have perfected the process of manufacturing steel siding and the paint they use on the siding and it took only a few visits to other farms with Morton Buildings to recognize the difference. Even barns that were 20 plus years old, looked brand new. I read on their website that there are two costs when putting steel on a barn, the upfront cost and the cost down the road if it is done poorly or with inferior products. I knew Morton would do the best job and do it right the first time.

I made my deposit and prayed I’d done the right thing. Well, I could not be more pleased. The materials are spectacular and were everything Morton had promised. The men who did the work were incredibly conscientious and took pride in their work. They communicated well with us and were able to find a way around every problem an older barn presents. My barns were not plumb, but they had no issue making every seam look perfect. They worked incredibly long hours and proved to be men of integrity and they gained both my respect and trust.

The thing that impressed me most was Morton’s ability to do the work with our animals present. We had an Arabian horse, a newly adopted pregnant mini donkey, two Baby Doll sheep, two barn cats and five chickens on the property. This was a huge concern for me, but the men worked around them carefully and conscientiously as though they were their own.

Every day as the Morton steel siding went up it was amazing to see my barns be reborn. They are now maintenance free, charming and my realtor assure me my property values went up substantially. Where I use to dread going up to the barns because all I saw were maintenance issues, I now love admiring their beauty, as do all my friends and neighbors.

My Morton sales person is an Eagle Scout.  Not only did he live up to that rank, but Morton did as well.  They were timely, honest, forthright, hardworking and delivered every detail they promised and even a few things that I added as the project progressed. I’m so proud to have my barns carry the Morton name and I know you will too. It was a genuinely positive experience from beginning to end.”
