Featured Project: Hobby Garage

July 7, 2014

Check out this 3,505-square-foot hobby garage built for Dave in Virginia. He wanted a place where he could withdraw and store his car collection, as well as keep an office where he could work but still “get away from it all”. Morton helped Dave realize his dream by building this beautiful structure with two 30’ x 54’ garage wings with an 8/12 roof pitch. The wings flank a 16’ octagon, with a 24/12 roof pitch, used as an office.

The roof was finished with premier 50-year shingles. The outside walls and wainscot of the building are finished in Morton’s Hi-Rib Steel panels in ivory and brown, respectively. Dave’s garage includes a total of 16 Pella ProLine windows, two walk doors and eight overhead doors. Morton’s Energy Performer package was installed throughout, which includes R-19 fiberglass insulation blankets in the walls and R-38 fiberglass insulation in the ceiling. The garage interior is finished with Morton’s Hi-Rib and Acoustical Steel in white. The office is finished with drywall.

The unique angled connections in this structure are an excellent example of the flexibility of design that post-frame construction allows. Morton made Dave’s dream hobby shop a reality!
