What does a Morton garage, hobby building, or workshop cost?

January 5, 2022

We’re often asked about how much it costs to build our residential facilities such as garages, hobby buildings, and workshops.  Unfortunately, there is not a one-price-fits-all answer to that question, but we want to provide a ballpark range as a guideline.

One of the most critical things to remember when seeking a price for a Morton building is that the most reliable source throughout the design process will always be a local Morton sales consultant, as they are equipped with the knowledge to explain what a building will cost and why it will cost that amount.

Factors that affect the scope and total price of a project:

  • Size
  • Material cost
  • Features
  • Location
  • Site
  • Construction timeline
  • Distance and accessibility of site
  • Local codes

Exterior features, insulation and concrete floors typically have the largest impact on pricing. Geography, climate conditions and codes can also affect the price of a building. Every Morton building is unique – a two-car garage built in the Florida panhandle may not be engineered identically to a two-car garage built in upstate New York, and prices vary across the country.

Before any Morton building vision can become a reality, customers must coordinate building site planning and preparation and this can also increase the cost of the project.

That being said, we are happy to give some general pricing of three different sizes of three common buildings:

24’ x 10’4” x 32’ Non-Insulated Garage:

Starting at approximately $55/square foot*

30’ x 10’4” x 40’ Non-Insulated Garage:

Starting at approximately $40/square foot*

42’ x 10’4” x 64’ Non-Insulated Garage:

Starting at approximately $30/square foot*

Of course, it is critical to note that every Morton building is unique and prices always have the potential to vary. Meeting with Morton to communicate your building ideas and preferences will always give you the best idea on what an accurate final price tag would be.
