Using Morton Repair Services to Modernize an Older Building

October 18, 2017

Sharon Gutwiler, of Olin, Iowa sought to modernize the existing shed on her property that her father had built originally in 1980.  As this was one of the oldest structures on the property, it was closest to the house, and she wanted to update the exterior to match the house exterior.

The Morton Buildings’ Field Services team out of the Atkins, Iowa office had previously completed a project for her son-in-law, where they added wainscot to his building to freshen it up.  After seeing the stunning results of that project, Sharon reached out directly to the team to accomplish the same for her.

To modernize it, Sharon and her Morton Field Service Specialist, decided to replace the outdated green colors with a warm brown wainscot that complimented the house and surroundings.  They also replaced the splashboard, as that is easiest to do when they take the steel off.  Skylights were replaced, and all the trim, entry door, gutters, and ridge caps were also replaced.  The original white colored steel was left unchanged, as it still looked great after all of these years.

It took a crew of three to complete all of this in only three days!  In addition, it only took eight weeks from when the itemized contract was signed, to scheduling the renovation and ordering the materials, to having the building completed.

How does Sharon feel about her experience working with Morton?

“All the guys I had contact with were easy to work with and very accommodating, finished the work in a timely manner, kept the work site picked up.  The building looks like a new one,” said Sharon.
